LO&CO. INTERIORS SHOWROOM

The stunning Sydney showroom of fine brass purveyors Lo&Co. is the latest commercial project from architecture firm Alexander & Co. A compact space of only 20sqm, the design seamlessly integrates a bespoke selection of sculptural furniture pieces and lighting which required a highly restrained, tonal styling concept so as not to overwhelm the small space.

"Lo & Co was a unique project that offered us the chance to play with a compact design challenge. As a practice, we don’t often have the capacity to take on smaller projects so this was an interesting detour from our usual larger-scale work. Our desire was to make the store feel ‘found’, or more importantly to make the brand have historic relevance."

"We conceived the furniture within this bijou store to have longevity with the ability to be relocated to a future space if required. The timber centrepiece is a development of the pink concrete bench that has become synonymous with Alexander House. Crafted in walnut and possessing a top storage display the shape and expression have naturally changed, however, the bench retains something of the sense of an altar that we had hoped for. Similarly, it holds something of the idea that spaces can have moments of intensity, fulcrums where the energy changes."
